Ofitres collaborates with Gamatec on the interior design project for the European Forest Institute at the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site
The interior design studio Gamatec has led, with both sensitivity and vision, the transformation of the European Forest Institute (EFI) workspace within the Sant Pau Art Nouveau Site, a UNESCO World Heritage landmark. Their concept of a “natural mechanism” masterfully weaves together the building’s architectural legacy with EFI’s ecological mission, creating a workspace deeply rooted in nature.
The project was guided by key principles: preserving the historical integrity of the building, minimizing disruption during construction, enabling flexibility, and fostering a collaborative environment. The upper floor has been reimagined as a vast indoor forest, with organic forms inspired by trees, leaves, and natural structures shaping the furniture, lighting, and spatial layout.
Ofitres proudly contributed to Gamatec’s vision by providing furniture solutions that blend seamlessly into the natural environment envisioned by the design:
- Log-in height-adjustable desks, supporting dynamic and ergonomic work settings.
- Kubo drawer units, compact and functional, offering storage without visual heaviness.
- Tono cabinets, whose neutral and refined finishes reinforce the project’s organic aesthetic.
The finishes and visual language of our pieces align with the conceptual and aesthetic narrative of the design, complementing the textures, tones, and volumes of the space while respecting the building’s heritage.
This collaboration between Gamatec and Ofitres showcases how interior design can honor historical legacy, serve present-day needs, and envision a sustainable future.
